The one part of Suvana that is not a web page. Alerts runs on the phone in a Deaf user's pocket, listening for the sounds they cannot hear — and it can raise an SOS with their location when something goes wrong.

Two modes, one microphone

The two halves serve the same person in completely different situations, so the app hands the microphone cleanly between them rather than running both at once.

Environmental sound awareness

An on-device classifier watches for sirens, alarms, horns, doorbells and knocking, and raises a high-contrast visual alert with a distinct haptic signature per sound — so the phone can be understood in a pocket, without looking at it.

Transcribe

Live speech captions

Turns the conversation happening in front of the user into readable text on the phone, so a hearing person who does not sign can still be understood in a shop, a clinic or a classroom.

SOS

Safety circle

A Safety Circle of trusted contacts, and a one-touch emergency beacon that sends them an SMS with the user's current GPS location.

Installing

Install Alerts on Android.

Download the APK and install it on your phone. No computer is needed. Sound awareness works offline after installation. Live captions may need internet unless on-device recognition is enabled with an offline language pack.
